The UPSC conducts CDS examinations for candidates who wish to join defence forces such as the air force, navy, or Army twice a year. The Union Public Service Commission has notified us about the Combined Defence Services CDS First Examination 2025. Candidates should apply online for the UPSC CDS 1 2025 examination. They are recruiting 457 candidates for the post.

Application fee required for payment:

The candidates belonging to the general category, or OBC, should pay Rs. 200. Those who belong to the SC/ST category or are female are exempt from application fees. The fee should be paid online through various modes, such as credit card, debit card, net banking, etc.

Eligibility criteria for the CDS exam in 2025:

Nationality

The candidate should be an Indian citizen, from Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who settled in India before January 1, 1962, to permanently settle in India. The candidate, who is of Indian origin, lived in countries such as Uganda, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Vietnam, Zaire, Burma, Ethiopia, and Zambia temporarily and returned to India for permanent settlement.

Education Qualifications of the Candidate

  • Candidates who wish to join the I.M.A. and Officers Training Academy should be graduates from any stream from a recognised university.
  • Candidates who wish to join the Indian Naval Academy should be engineering graduates from any university or institution.
  • If a candidate wants to join the Air Force Academy, they should be a graduate from a recognised university with subjects in physics and mathematics at 10 + 2 or an engineering graduate.

Age limit for the candidates:

  • Candidates joining IMA should be unmarried male candidates who were born from January 2, 2001, to January 1, 2006.
  • For the Indian Naval Academy, the male candidate should be unmarried and be born from January 2nd, 2001, to January 1st, 2006.
  • Candidates who wish to join the Air Force Academy should have been born from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2005.
  • For the Officer Training Academy, unmarried male candidates who were born from January 2, 2000, to January 1, 2006.
  • To join the Officer’s Training Academy, unmarried women, childless widows who are unmarried, or divorcees who are childless and have not married are eligible. The candidates should not have been born earlier than January 2, 2000, or after January 1, 2006.

Procedure of selection

The candidates are hired for the post after undergoing the following tests:

  1. “Written Examination
  2. SSB Interview/Personality Test
  3. Verification of documents
  4. Medical Examination

Examination Pattern for the CDS Exam 2025:

The candidates should undergo a written examination before appearing for an interview. They should solve multiple-choice questions for each paper. For general knowledge and mathematics, the questions are given in Hindi and English.

For every correct answer, the students secure 1 mark, and 1/3 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. The duration of the exam is 2 hours.

How do I fill out the form online?

  • They should visit the official website of upsconline.nic.in.
  • Then, they should find the option ‘OTR for examination of UPSC and online application’ and click on the option.
  • Fill out the registration form, and then proceed to pay the application fee as required.
  • Then upload the documents: ID proof, address proof, handwriting, basic details, photo, sign, thumb proof, etc.
  • Then press the submit button to submit the form.
  • Then save a printout of the hard copy for future use.
