Physical Standards: The candidate must meet the prescribed physical standards.
Marital Status: For Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy, the candidate must be unmarried. For Officers' Training Academy, both unmarried and married candidates are eligible.

UPSC CDS Exam 2023 is conducted in two stages - Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.
Written Examination: The written exam consists of three papers - English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. The exam is of objective type and each paper is of 2 hours duration. The total marks for the written exam is 300 marks.
Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who qualify for the written examination will be called for an interview by the Service Selection Board (SSB). The interview will consist of Intelligence and Personality Test. The interview is of 300 marks.
NOTE: For admission to Officers' Training Academy, the candidates will have to qualify in the written exam and obtain minimum qualifying marks in the interview.
The final merit list will be based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the written exam and the interview.
It is important to note that there will be negative marking for wrong answers in the written exam. For every wrong answer, one-third of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
