UG Admission 2025 Updates: Good News for all Class 12th Students! Central Universities such as DU, BHU, and Jamia Milia Islamia will not ask for 90+ scores in 10+2 anymore for providing admissions!
Admissions to all the Bachelor's degree courses will be done through a Common University Entrance Test in all the premiere UGC-funded universities.
CUET Entrance: In this article, we have explained why CUET Entrance Test has been made compulsory for UG Admissions in Central University and other necessary details you must know if you are appearing in the 12th board exams this year.
UGC has recently announced that CUET Exam will be compulsory for providing admissions in all the UG courses offered by all the central universities.
Now all the 12th passed students will be relieved from the stress of scoring that perfect 100 scores for admission into the universities like Delhi University, Jamia Milia Islamia, Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, and other renowned central universities in India.
This new policy will lift up the burden from the shoulders of Class 12th students to score exceptionally high marks to meet the cut-off requirements.
This means that central universities will have to use CUET scores to provide admissions to various UG courses and not on the basis of 12th board marks.
It is good news for all the 12th students that Class 12th exam results will be used only as qualifying criteria and not as admission criteria, thus your 12th marks will have no influence on your admissions.
However, you must have to obtain a good score in CUET (Central University Entrance Test) to get admission into the premier universities in India.
The full form of the CUET Exam is Central University Entrance Test. It was formerly known as Central Universities Entrance Test (CUCET). It is a common entrance test that will be now used for providing admissions to all the 12th passed students in the Undergraduate courses in the 45 central universities.
The exam was originally introduced in the year 2010 to provide a common entrance test for admissions to all the central universities but it failed to gain traction as only 14 central universities in India had accepted it. But now UGC has renamed CUCET as CUET and made it mandatory for all the 45 central universities and affiliated colleges to provide admission through CUET 2025 exam and discarded the 12th merit-based admission process in the central universities. This decision follows the declaration of the NEP (National Education Policy).
Likewise, JEE and NEET the Central University Entrance Test will also be held in 13 languages which are English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Urdu, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Odia, Gujarati.
The UGC Chairman also stated that this new policy may also be adopted by the State, Private, and Deemed-to-be Universities soon.
The Central University Entrance Test is a computer-based test administered by National Testing Agency (NTA). The CUET Exam Pattern 2025 will be released by NTA soon on their official website. To find more about the CUET 2025 Exam Pattern continue reading this article.

Implementing CUET as a compulsory criterion for undergraduate admissions has neutralized the unfair competition for getting seats in top-ranking universities in India.
However, it will not affect the reservation policy of universities. For eg- If the percentage of seats is reserved for local students in a university, it will remain unchanged. It is just that all the students (including the reserved category students) will have to appear on Central University Entrance Test.
For more details, you can also go through with Common University Entrance Test CUET 2025.
Ques 1. Why UGC has taken the Step to make CUET a Mandatory Entrance Test for UG Admissions?
Ans. The Government was never in the favour of using 12th board marks for undergraduate admissions as they believe that there is "diversity" in the evaluation methods of the various boards.
Some boards are more generous in marking than others and this provides their students an unfair advantage over students from other boards.
Therefore CUET has been made mandatory as this exam will keep all the students on common ground and give equal opportunity to all of them.
So, now universities will admit students on the basis of a merit list prepared by the National Testing Agency. There will be no common counseling, CUET counseling 2025 will be conducted separately in each participating university. The admission will be provided on the basis of the rank list generated by the respective universities.
This means that central universities will conduct their counseling and admission process separately. Candidates who will appear in the CUET exam would be able to apply for admission to the participating universities.
Ques 2. Where will I get admission from CUET this year?
Ans. CUET is an entrance exam to the central university.
Ques 3. What is the minimum eligibility for CUET 2025?
Ans. Students must pass the 12th grade to take the CUET exam.
Ques 4. When will be the CUET 2025 exam?
Ans. The CUET Entrance Exam 2025 will take place in the first week of July.
Ques 5. What will be the CUET Exam Pattern?
Ans. In CUET 2025, questions will be based on the 12th syllabus.
Ques 6. What benefit will the students get from the CUET exam?
Ans. The Central University Entrance Test will ease the pressure of scoring high in class 12th and will provide a fair evaluation system to all the universities to admit students.
Ques 7. Is CUET difficult?
Ans. The level of difficulty is moderate. The questions will be asked from the general NCERT Syllabus of class 12th
Ques 8. How many times can I give CUET?
Ans. There are no limits to attempting the CUET Exam. This exam is held once a year and candidates can attempt the exam every year.
Ques 9. How should I start preparing for CUET?
Ans. CUET syllabus 2025 will be derived from the 12th NCERT syllabus. So, you can start preparing for your CUET Entrance Exam and take the NCERT syllabus as a reference. We also advise you to solve some previous year's question papers for CUCET, this will provide you with a brief idea about the exam and its difficulty level.
Ques 10. Is CUET online or offline?
Ans. CUET is a computerized exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The application process for the test will begin in April.
Ques 11. CUET 2025: Will 12th marks be valid in CUET Exam?
Ans. Yes, If you are applying for an Undergraduate course (Bachelor's degree) course, then your 12th Mark will be a valid eligibility requirement for applying CUET 2025 Exam. All the candidates who have passed 12th or appeared on 12th boards are eligible to apply for CUET (UG) exam 2025.
