NEET SS 2025: Registration (Started), Exam dates, Eligibility, Pattern, Books for Preparation

NEET, an abbreviation for National Eligibility Entrance Test, is conducted for students who have completed post-graduate degrees in the medical field and are aspiring to study advanced medical courses such as DM, M. Ch., DNB, etc. National Testing Agency conducts this examination To study medicine in India, students should compulsorily appear for the NEET test.

About the Examination Pattern and Date

It is a computer-based examination held for 2.5 hours. The examination dates for NEET were announced by the NBE and are to be held on September 9 and 10. This entrance test is meant for students who want to pursue specialty courses such as DNB, DM, M.Ch., etc.

Even students who have completed a post-graduate degree in medical science can apply. The application form for NEET 2025 was released on July 27, and the last date for filling out the form online is August 16. The students should register online to access the online application form.

An admit card will be submitted to the students on September 4, 2025. The results of NEET 2025 will be announced on September 30, 2025.

Pattern of the Examination

The students should attempt 150 questions, and they should complete the test within 2.5 hours. The paper comprises MCQ questions divided into A and B sections. For a correct answer, the students would secure 4 marks and would lose 1 mark for every incorrect answer.

Eligibility Criteria

The students should fulfill certain requirements to become eligible for the NEET examination. They should be post-graduates who have completed degrees such as DNB, MD, or MS from any recognized institution. This year, the students who will complete their post-graduate degree on or before September 30, 2025, are eligible to appear for the NEET SS 2025. He or she should be registered with the State Medical Council or the Medical Council of India.

They should score a minimum of 50% in the entrance examination, so they are eligible to participate in the process of NEET SS counseling.

Registration Process

The students should provide details to generate a login ID and password. Then, they should fill out the required details in the application form, upload an image, and submit the application fee. The form is to be submitted online only. The details required are name, date of birth, mobile number, nationality, and Email ID.

The mobile number, Email ID, or scanned passport-size photograph provided along with the application form should be valid. The application fee to be paid is Rs. 4,250, and the students should pay the fee through various modes such as online banking, debit card, credit card, etc. After the due date of the application, the correction window is open to rectify any details in the NEET SS application form 2025.

About the Admit Card Online

The admission card is released online and should be downloaded from the official website. The candidates are notified about the admit card by SMS, email, etc. A passport-sized photograph should be pasted in the given space as soon as it is available. It contains important information about the student, such as exam timing, exam dates, and some guidelines. If the students do not carry this document during the examination, then they are not permitted to write an examination. So, the candidates should verify their details as mentioned on the admit card and notify them as quickly as possible if any discrepancy is found.

Results

The result of NEET 2025 will be announced on the official website of nbe.edu.in on October 25, and the result can be downloaded by logging in to the account of NEET SS Result 2025. It contains information such as the roll number and the total score of the candidate. The result is only valid during the academic year.

What are the important books the students should refer to?

Some of the important books that can be referred to by the students are Surgery Sixer, written by Dr. R. Rajmahendran; Surgery Essence, 7th edition, whose author is Pritesh Singh; Burns Pediatric Primary Care, written by Dr. Mudit Khanna and Dr. Deepak Marwah; Schwartz Principle of Surgery, written by F. Charles Brunicardi, etc. Burns Pediatric Primary Care is a book that guides you through concepts such as managing, assessing, and preventing problems in children.

The Surgery Sixer is a book written by Dr. R. Rajendran, written in a simplified manner and consisting of illustrations. The Surgery Essence is a book providing comprehensive information about the newest trends in the surgical world. This book contains many images. The Schwartz Principle of Surgery is a book about operative techniques, anatomy, and basic science. It also provides leadership training to medical experts.
