What are the Eligibility Criteria for the BPSSC Sub Inspector?

The applicant should be an Indian citizen, and even third-gender individuals can apply for the post.

The candidate should be a graduate from a recognised university or pass an equivalent examination as recognised by the state government as of August 1, 2025. Only graduate candidates can apply for the post.

The age limit of the candidate varies according to categories.

Age limit for the post

The minimum age limit for the post of BPSSC is 20 years, and the maximum age limit is 37 years for males and 40 years for females. The candidates belonging to other backward categories should be at least 40. The candidates belonging to SC/ST or transgender groups should be 42 years old.

The process of online application has commenced on the site of www.bpssc.bih.nic.in. The forms should be filled out online and will not be accepted in any other mode. The application should be submitted before the deadline.

The candidates should pay the application fees online through a credit card, debit card, or net banking. The payment includes the application fee and the bank's transaction charges. The application fee to be paid by the OBC/EWS/Gen/BC/EBC/other state is Rs.700. The application fee to be paid by the SC/ST and female candidates is Rs. 400. The fees paid by the candidates are not refundable.

The mode of selection for the candidates

The candidates should initially undergo three written examinations and then undergo PET and PST tests.

Initially, the department is conducting Stage 1: the preliminary written examination and then the main written examination for Stage II. At stage 3, the candidates should undergo a physical efficiency test and a physical standard test. Then, at a later stage, the documents are to be verified by the candidates. Then the last stage of review is the medical examination.

The factors that are accessed during the Physical Standard Test are height and chest. To test overall health and fitness, they conduct activities such as running, high jumping, gola fek, and long jumping.

Examination pattern of the exam

The preliminary written examination consists of objective multiple-choice questions. Each question is worth 2 marks, and if the answer is wrong, then Two marks are deducted. The candidates should at least score 30% or 60 marks and complete the test within 120 minutes. The paper consists of two sections, namely General Knowledge and Current Affairs, both consisting of 100 marks.

The main exam consists of two papers, namely Paper 1 and Paper 2. It consists of two sections, namely General Hindi and General Studies, and each section consists of 100 marks. The candidate should score a minimum of 30%. If the answer is correct, the students are rewarded with 2 marks and a negative marking of.2 for the wrong answer.

The total SI minimum qualifying marks for the general category are 40%, and the minimum is 32% for SC/ST and women. The minimum qualifying marks for BC are 36.5%. The minimum qualifying mark for extremely backward castes is 34%.

  5. After filling out the details, upload the necessary documents as mentioned in the registration form.

  7. After completing the registration process, the candidates are notified via SMS along with their registration ID. This ID should be carefully maintained for future reference.
  8. Take a printout of the form for future reference.
