The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) administers the NIFT, a national design entrance test, to applicants for admission to the many design programmes that its participating institutes provide. The following courses are currently offered by 18 cooperating institutes: B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses. The aforementioned programmes have a combined admission capacity of 5, 215 seats.
The first week of November 2025 is when the NIFT 2024 application form will be made available. Around the same time, the admission announcement and information pamphlet will be distributed. It will include details on the admission process, fees, step-by-step application procedure, seat matrix, and eligibility requirements. Applicants must apply by the deadline if they match the requirements.
The following outlines the step-by-step procedure for completing the NIFT 2024 online application:
Navigate to the "Registration" link on the NIFT admissions webpage. Enter your name, phone number, email address, and any other pertinent information in the registration form that appears. In order to establish a login account, click "register."
Choose your desired test mode (CBT, PBT, or IBT), test cities, and five B-Schools on the following page. An applicant account will be created upon registration.
Provide pertinent information on the MAT exam application form. To complete the remaining fields and choose a test location, log in. Add files To finish the process, pay the application cost.
For the OPEN category, the NIFT 2024 application fee is INR 3,000. Still, Candidates who are PwD, SC, or ST only need to pay INR 1,500.
The candidate must fulfill the following program-specific eligibility requirements in order to be eligible for the design courses that the participating institute of NIFT 2024 offers:

NOTE: If eligible candidates meet the requirements at the time of seat assignment or admission, they may also apply if they are taking the qualifying exam in the year of admission.

There are TWO phases to the NIFT 2024 test.
Candidates for B.Des and M.Des programmes must appear in both the GAT and CAT Papers. The GAT is the sole requirement for other candidates.

Quantitative Ability: Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work, and Task, Ratio and Proportion, and Distance. |
The test is administered to evaluate the intuitive ability, power of observation concept development, and design ability of the candidate. |
Communication Ability and English Comprehension: synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one-word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings, comprehending a situation from a given passage, etc. |
The candidate is not allowed to reveal his or her identity by marking the answer sheet. |
- Analytical Ability and Logical Ability - General Knowledge and Current Affairs - Note that GAT is common for all programs. So, irrespective of the program you are seeking admission to, the GAT paper is mandatory. |
Note: Only B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take the CAT written exam. |
