National Talent Search Examination (NTSE):

The National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) is a national scholarship system to identify and recognize highly intellectual and academically talented students in India. In India, it is one of the most prestigious examinations. Each year, about 50,00,000 students (a mostly self-selective group of students) appear in this scholarship exam, and 1000 scholarships are awarded annually, of which 775 (are for the open category) are not reserved.

The Union Minister of Human Resource Development announced that the number of scholarships under the National Talent Quest Scheme will be doubled from the current 1000 to 2000 while speaking on the occasion of the 55th Found. However, according to NCERT officials, there is nothing like that. So the seats weren't doubled.

For students of Indian nationality, the scheme is available. In the selection process, students studying in Class X are eligible to appear.

It is widely regarded by the Government of India as the most prestigious and the most difficult examination at the secondary level in the world, as it is organized by an official body (NCERT).
