Difference Between Pre-Matric and Post-Matric

Prematric scholarships are given by the government to the needy. This scholarship will help the students to continue their future studies. This scholarship is given to students who could not continue their higher studies because of family financial issues.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. This scholarship is only for children of the minority community.
  2. This Prematric scholarship scheme is valid for students who are studying from class 1 to class 10th.
  3. Students must have obtained more than 50% marks in their previous final year examination.
  4. The Annual Income of the family should not be more than Rs 100,000 per year.
  5. 30% of the scholarship scheme is for the girl students only.
  6. The maintenance amount should be given to a student for 10 months in a given year.

  • Visit the official website of the National Scholarship Portal to fill the Prematric Scholarship Registration Form.
  • On the homepage of the portal, you will see the scholarship scheme. Click on it.

  • Now, the page will ask for your mobile number and email id. Provide both to get the login credentials, application status, etc on your provided email id.
  • Log in to the page and fill in the other information.
  • To complete the Prematric Scholarship Registration Form, click on the “Save and Register” option.
  • Take a printout of the Prematric Scholarship Registration Form for further use.

Postmatric Scholarship Scheme

Post matric Scholarship Scheme is for the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students given by the Government to continue their studies. This scholarship is given to the candidates whose family income will not allow them to study further.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The students living in India can only apply for this Postmatric scholarship scheme.
  • The Postmatric scholarship scheme is given to the students who are studying in schools recognized by the government of India.
  • The students who belong to the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe can apply for the Post matric scholarship program.
  • If the student has completed their educational career in one professional line like B.Ed. or B.T then they are not applicable for this scholarship.
  • Only families with low-income households are eligible to apply for this scholarship scheme.
  • Scholarship will be given to the students whose family household income does not exceed INR 250,000 annually.
  • If the student’s parents are alive, then the incomes of both are considered.
  • If the student’s parents are getting an income from house rent then the income will be exempted.
