Gautam Buddha University (GBU) is a state Government controlled university that was established in 2002 by the Uttar Pradesh Act. The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission and is accredited with a B+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Gautam Buddha University Greater Noida is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The law program of the University is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
