About, CUSAT, Kochi:

The Cochin University of Science & Technology is a renowned university in Kerala established in 1971. The university is governed by the state government, it was first known as the University of Cochin and later changed to Cochin University of Science & Technology. The university is located in Kochi Kerala. The university is famous for its research study and offers the best postgraduate courses in different streams such as applied science, technology, industry and commerce. The university started with the vision of becoming an Institution of Global Standard by continuously improving its quality of academic activities, taking up research and innovation in the frontier areas and by ensuring conducive state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities. 

MISSION:

1. to encourage and promote research and innovation in applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management and social  science for the advancement of knowledge and for the betterment of society;

2. to provide facilities and offer opportunities for graduate and post-graduate education in applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management and social science by instruction, training, research, development, innovation and extension and by such other means as the University may deem fit;

3. to devise and implement programmes of education in applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management and social science that are relevant to the changing needs of society, in terms of breadth of diversity and depth of specialization;

4. to serve as a centre for fostering cooperation and exchange of ideas between the academic and research community on the one hand and industry on the other

5. to organize exchange programmes with other institutions of repute in India and abroad with a view to keeping abreast of the latest innovation and developments in relevant areas of teaching and research.

Cochin University is recognised by UGC and approved by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education). The university is one of the top education institutes in Kerala, it is accredited by NAAC (National Assessment & Accredited by Council). The university is ranked 54 by the week in 2024, 65 by NIRF ( National Institute Ranking Framework) and 72 by outlook. 

The University offers various programmes in different fields of Science, Technology, Commerce and Arts. The university offers both the programmes i.e. graduate and postgraduate programmes. The university emphasizes research work more thus its postgraduate programmes are super famous.

Library:

 The Roorkee College of Engineering is fully equipped with books for students about different fields. The college library has thousands of books on different subjects and memberships of various journals and databases. The library has almost 95000 books including reference books, doctoral theses and back volumes of periodicals, patents, 51 Indian Journals, 92 foreign print journals, CD-ROM etc. The library has about 45 online journals and 13 databases and 15,000 e-journals.  

Cafeteria:

There is a canteen located in the campus area which serves delicious food of variety. The canteen is open on all working days including Saturdays from 8 a.m to 8 p.m. The food cuisines served in the canteen are south Indian and north Indian food at a very nominal rate, so that every student can afford it.
