Tips to Prepare for NEET with Board Exam

  • Underline the Overlapping Chapters

As the Syllabus for the NEET Entrance exam is similar to NCERT or other board books, students should first mark the overlapping topics in subject chapters so that they do not have to learn them twice and save extra time for preparation.

  • In-depth Learning

The Syllabus may be somewhat similar, but NEET requires in-depth knowledge of the exam subjects and emphasis on concept-solution-related learning. That is why students should focus on deep learning of NEET subject topics while studying for Board exams to prepare effectively in little time.

  • Make a Flexible Timetable

Another mistake students are prone to making is that they create an impossible timetable for them including both exams syllabus and many unnecessary resources. They also keep adding suggestions and materials for their Board and NEET exam preparation in a hurry to achieve the best results.

This backfires for many students. Timetables should be properly made keeping in mind the capacity of one individual, needed preparation, exam syllabus and keeping additional resources to a minimum.

  • Practice of Mock Exams for NEET

For NEET exam preparation, only theoretical study is not sufficient. As the exam contains objective type and solution-related questions, students should practice attempting mock exams on a daily basis. Considering the high competition in the NEET exam, daily mock attempts may increase your chances of qualification and success.

  • Making NEET a Priority

NEET Exam preparation should be the first priority for students, but both NEET and Board exam preparations should be carried out simultaneously. Only 2 to 3 weeks before the 12th Board exam, the board exam preparation should be prioritized.

Misconceptions about NEET and Board Exams

Both have different Syllabus

It is a common misconception in students' minds that the 11th and 12th board syllabus is different from the Syllabus of the NEET Entrance Test. It is not true. The Syllabus of the NEET exam is completely based on the foundation books of the 11th and 12th Boards like NCERT Books. Students just need a deep and detailed preparation of subject topics for the NEET exam.

How NEET Exam is difficult from Board Exam

12th standard boards have subjective questions, while the NEET exam has objective-type questions. The Syllabus is the same for both exams. If students study properly and make their subject foundations strong especially in Chemistry, Biology and Physics subjects, they will be able to attempt any type of objective or subjective questions correctly.

What if Not from the CBSE Board?

Students who do not belong to the CBSE board have this fear that their 11th and 12th standard Syllabus is different from NCERT and NEET exams. This misconception needs to be cleared. Every state or national Board contains a similar syllabus as NCERT for 11th and 12th classes. So, the preparation level is the same for the CBSE Board and other board students.
