SP (Superintendent of Police) is a post of gazetted officer in the IPS section, who heads the police department in a district. It is the responsibility of the SP to keep the district safe and sound from negative situations of corrupt terrorist or criminal activities.
In the police force, there are three ranks in the name of Superintendent, namely, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and Superintendent of Police (SP).

The process to become SP (Superintendent of Police) is briefly listed below for students who wish to become SP. Students must graduate from 10+2 from a recognized board and pursue a Bachelor’s degree in any field, from a recognized university or college. This is a minimum academic requirement to become SP.
After this, the student has three options that he or she can choose from.
There is another way to become S.P, in CBI, SI can be promoted to SP and DIG as a promotion. Since the last two options are usually straightforward, we will concentrate on the first two options.
Civil Services is the first option that students opt for after their graduation. Although it is very difficult to crack, students start preparing for it in their Bachelor's studies. Students usually tend to study for long hours and practice tons of papers each week and day.
You can either join any coaching classes, which make sure a student passes all three stages of the CSE by UPSC, namely Prelims, Main, and the interviews. The candidate must decide which post they wish to opt for. The eligibility and recruitment process for various posts is different and students must choose accordingly.

After the candidate is selected, he or she will be trained at a Police Academy. After successful completion of the training course, the candidate needs to join his or her respective batch. They will not be S.P yet. You will be promoted to ASP (Assistant Superintendent of Police) in two years, After that, depending on your cadre or performance and your profile, you will be promoted to the post of S.P.
