Mainly there are two processes to become a teacher, the first is completing of bachelor's degree and teacher preparation program and the second process is to follow non-traditional pathways to the classrooms, which may vary from state to state.

A teacher is not only responsible for imparting academic knowledge to students but also to inculcate her principle and virtues for an affable human being.
For nurturing the younger generation according to their age and aspiration a teacher themselves require a divergent type of knowledge that can be acquired by doing various courses available for teachers. With the increase in the number of schools, the demand for teachers is also increasing with every passing session.
So there is no dearth of scope for the aspirants in this noble profession of nation-building along with their own career prospects. However, teaching when compared to other professions is less lucrative but it is the mental satisfaction attached to the profession that draws the attention of individuals.
Since the requirements of infants, primary scholars, and secondary students are divergent from each other, thus primary and secondary teachers are required to take up different teaching training courses.
Therefore there are numerous teaching training courses like:
To become a successful teacher one has to go through several courses according to his/her own caliber/interest.
To be eligible for the NTT course one should pass his or her 10+2 with at least 50% aggregate marks to get admission in some of the virtuous institutions providing this course.
Step 1: Interested aspirants have to appear in an entrance test that is conducted by the various state and Independent educational boards to grant candidates in various teaching institutions according to the rank of the candidate in the entrance exam. Some entrance exams are the National Eligibility Test(NET), UPTET, State Level Eligibility Test, or State Eligibility Test (SLET or SET), etc.
These exams are generally conducted in the month of May-June and consist of objective-type questions on subjects like English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Basic Arithmetic Teaching Potential, and one local language in some states. Results of these exams are generally out by June/July respectively.
Step 2: After completing this 2-years program teachers can also go through practical training courses and be taught how to understand the psychology of the students who are too small to explain their thoughts properly to the teacher. One can opt. for some job is private or state-run school as a Nursery teacher.
For pursuing Elementary Teacher Training one should have completed 10+2 with at least 60% marks for admission in any institution.
Aspirants who have completed their 10+2 qualification with at least 50% of aggregate marks are eligible for this course. The duration of this PTT is 2 years. The application form can be filled through both the process i.e. offline and online. All the relevant details of the program can be obtained from the website of that particular college.
For Junior Basic Training course eligibility, candidates have to pass 10+2 or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized university. The percentage may vary from one institute to another. Applicants who are interested in the field of teaching are suitable for the Junior Basic Training program.
The admission process for this JBT is based on merit-based or entrance-based. Most of the colleges select scholars on the basis of marks they have obtained in their 10+2 or equivalent examination. To become a teacher, some of the reputed colleges conduct entrance exams to select students for admission on their own.
Diploma in Education course has been fundamentally designed to train the candidates to become skilled primary teachers at the school level. The placement test is held for the selection of eligible candidates for the program.
Preferably, Humanities subjects are the main subjects to study at the 10+2 level and a minimum aggregate score of 50% for general and 45% for SC/ST/OBC category is required.
The admission process generally varies from one college to another. Several institutes also provide direct admission based on the candidate’s performance at the 10+2 level.
Bachelor of Education or B. Ed. is pursued after graduation. The duration of B.Ed is 2-years. The course specifically caters to the aspirants who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching and related fields. It is a skill-based training program that imparts knowledge to candidates regarding all aspects of classroom teaching.
Successful candidates can apply for B.Ed after the completion of any graduation degree such as Bachelor of Arts(BA), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), or Bachelor in Commerce from any recognized university.
Admission in B.Ed. is concluded through an entrance exam which is conducted by various states and institutions. Generally, the exam is orchestrated in the month of May or June.
Eligibility criteria which are set for this BA + B.Ed. is a candidate should be 10+2 passed with 50% minimum aggregate marks in any stream, with English subject. B.Ed. degree holders will be directly admitted in the 2nd academic year of this course.
This program is a combination of B.Sc. and B.Ed. Degrees. It is a 4-year integrated course based on personal interest. Candidates can choose an appropriate subject and pursue B.Sc. and B.Ed. Minimum 50% aggregate marks are required in any stream with English as a compulsory subject to pursue this course. Ed. degree holders will immediately be granted in the second academic year of this program
Bachelor of Elementary Education is a 2-year full-time undergraduate course, carved into 4 semesters. The eligibility criteria for same is 10+2 or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board. B.EL.Ed. the course curriculum has been designed to prepare individuals for teaching careers at public and private elementary and middle schools.
Some colleges also offer admission on the basis of obtained marks at the 10+2 level. Whereas numerous colleges/universities conduct entrance exams on their own at state and national levels.
Once completing a course in teaching, teacher training is mandatory for all the aspirants. After B.Ed there is numerous level that can define you as a teacher. These are Trained Graduate Teacher(TGT), Primary Teacher(PRT), Post Graduate Teacher(PGT) (Primary level, Upper Primary Level, Intercollege), etc.
PRT, PGT & TGT is very much different from one another. PRT Teachers can teach up to the 5th level, TGT Teachers can teach up to the 10th level whereas PGT Teachers can teach 11 & 12th Only.

In some schools, teachers receive additional benefits like accommodation, subsidized fees for pension, and gratuity.
