The National Testing Agency has released a CSIR NET Application Form 2024 on November 1, 2024, for the December session 2024. The CSIR UGC NET is a test conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian citizens for junior research fellowships, lectureships, or assistant professorships in universities and colleges in India. The UGC has specified the eligibility criteria to appear for the exam.

Eligibility for the CSIR NET Exam

Following are the eligibility details for the candidates appearing for the CSIR NET.

Educational Qualification

The candidate should pass BTech/BE/Pharma/BS/MBBS or integrated BS/MSc with a minimum of 55% marks. The candidates belonging to General (UR), General-EWS, OBC, third gender, and PwD should score a minimum of 50% marks.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for CSIR-NET is 28 years, and a relaxation of 5 years is provided to candidates belonging to special categories. If you are applying for the post of assistant professor, the age limit is not specified.

Application fees for different groups:

The application fee for the CSIR UGC Net exam for candidates belonging to the general category is Rs. 1,100. The candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL, third gender, backward class category should pay Rs. 5,50, and Rs. 275 should be paid by the candidates who belong to the SC/ST category.

The candidates belonging to the PwD category should be exempt from paying fees. The fees should be paid in online mode only via credit card, net banking, UPI, debit card, etc.

How do I register and fill out the application form for CSIR NET 2024?

  1. The candidate should first register on the site, then log in to the account and enter the necessary details.
  2. You should visit the official site of the National Testing Agency at https://csirnet.nta.nic.in/.
  3. Then, click on the ‘Application Form for CSIR NET December 2024” section, and you are redirected to another web page. Then a new CSIR-NET registration form opens on the screen.
  4. Then click on the “New Registration” button. Then, you should agree to the terms and conditions. Then click on ‘Click Here to Proceed’ and start the process of registration.
  5. Then enter your basic details, such as personal and contact details, correctly in the required field. The personal details include the father, mother's name, date of birth, and ID card number.
  6. Then login to your account, providing the application number and password.
  7. Then fill in the necessary details in the CSIR NET application form for 2024.
  8. Then, upload your recent photograph, signature, and the essential documents. The photograph and signature should be stored in JPEG format.
  9. To pay the application fee, go to the ‘payment section’ and pay fees via online mode.
  10. After paying the fees, ensure the details you provided are accurate and click the Submit button. After submitting the form, store the system-generated application number and password for future reference.
  11. Then save a copy of your application for future reference.

Exam Pattern for CSIR NET 2024

The candidates should attempt objective-type questions based on the provided subjects. The duration of the exam is 3 hours and consists of three sections. In Section A, students should attempt 30 questions, 70 questions in Section B, and 100 questions in Section C.

They should study topics such as ocean and planetary science, earth, atmospheric pressure, mathematical science, chemical science, physical science, planetary science, etc. The exam is conducted in two shifts. The first shift is held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the second shift is held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
