The Central Board of Secondary Education is conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for candidates who wish to become teachers in school. Senior Secondary or any equivalent degree with 50% marks minimum or passed or perused the Diploma in Elementary Education and appeared for the 2-year exam.
As per NCTE Norms 2002, senior secondary with a minimum of 45% marks or an equivalent degree or studying in the second year of a diploma in elementary education or passing a diploma in elementary education
Senior Secondary with 50% marks or appearing for the exam of the 4-year Bachelor Degree of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or passing in B.El.Ed.
Senior Secondary with 50% marks minimum and passed or appearing for the final-year exam of Diploma in Education (Special Education) or passed in Diploma in Special Education.
Bachelor degree or 2-year diploma in elementary education Students studying in their final year and appearing for the exam this year can also apply.
The candidates should score a minimum of 50% at graduation or post-graduation and should be B.Ed.
The candidate should be a graduate with 45% marks and a B.Ed. of 1 year passed or appearing for the final exam this year.
Senior Secondary with 50% marks and a graduation degree of 4 years or appearing for the final exam of a 4-year B.A./B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
Graduation with 50% marks and a diploma in special education for one year or appearing for the exam in special education this year
Candidates with a qualified B.Ed. program recognized by NCTE are eligible to appear for the ET/TET exam. According to the TET guidelines specified in the NCTE letter dated November 2, 2011, candidates perusing any teacher’s course recognized by NCTE or RCI, as specified in the NCTE notification dated August 23, 2010, can also appear for TET or CET.
Any candidate who is post-graduate with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade and has completed a 3-year integrated B.Ed. or M.Ed. can also apply.
The candidates belonging to General/OBC (NCL) should pay Rs. 1000 for only one paper, Paper 1 or 2. For both papers, the fees are Rs. 1200.
The application fees to be paid by the candidates of the SC/ST or differently abled category for only one paper, Paper 1 or Paper 2, are Rs. 500, and for both papers, they are Rs. 600.
The application fees should be paid online using tools such as credit cards, debit cards, net banking, Challan, etc.
The documents required for applying for CTET in January 2024 are as follows:
Teachers who are applying for Grades I to V should appear for Papers 1 and 2. Teachers who are applying for grades 6–8 should appear for Paper 2. The applicants should study topics such as mathematics, EVS, child development and pedagogy, science, social studies, and languages I and II. Each paper is for 2 ½ hours. Every question has one mark and no negative marking for an incorrect answer. The students should attempt multiple-choice questions.
