Medical Entrance Exams 2024: In today’s scenario, with millions and billions of applicants, the competition for higher education from a premier institute is cutthroat. Medical Entrance Exams are one of the worst nightmares for hopefuls. As the year passes these exams become more challenging and competitive.

If we talk about the Medical field then it is one of the most popular lucrative and reputed professional fields not only in India but across the globe. Medical is a gratifying, booming and eminent profession and pursuing a career in the field of medicine is a matter of pride.

Not only does it serve the purpose of offering unconditional service to mankind, but also aspirants can dream of travelling far and wide to render the best medical treatment. A medical aspirant is required to crack a Medical Entrance Exam to be a part of this coveted profession.

There are multifarious Medical Entrance Exams conducted in India for admission of meritorious candidates in medical institution/ university. Medical aspirants are obliged to take numerous national and institution-level exams to enrol in the field of medicine.

These exams are onerous to crack and may scare you a little bit but the right motivation and practice of the aspirants can help to crack medical entrance exams.  

In India, there are plenty of colleges/universities associated with medicine. Some of the popular entrance exam for medical in India are- NEET (National Eligibility and Entrance Test); JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research) and the list continues. All the state level MBBS/BDS entrance tests have been merged into the NEET examination.

Levels of Medical Entrance Exams:

  • University Level

National Level Medical Entrance Exams:

NEET UG Exam: National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) is one of the most sought national level examinations. From 2024 onwards, NEET will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) approved by the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India.

Till now, it was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). These exams are conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to grants admission to interested scholars in graduate and postgraduate medical courses (MBBS, MD, MS) and dental courses (BDS and MDS) in renowned private and government medical and dental colleges of India.

The test is conducted once a year through pen and paper-based mode. To get admission to medical courses abroad, candidates have to qualify for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Undergraduate Exam (NEET-UG).

NEET PG Exam: National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test- Post Graduates (NEET-PG) is an entrance based examination test, held all over India, for the scholars who wish to have a brilliant future at the postgraduate level into MD/MS and PG diploma courses.

The exam is overseen by the National Board of Examination (NBE) every year. The exam is held once a year in January and the mode of exam is computer-based. Students who qualify for the entrance exam are eligible for further counselling processes.

NEET has substituted the AIPGMEE (All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination) and DNB CET, in the opinion of the Supreme Court Directive.

AIIMS Exam: All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a group of self-governing public medical colleges for higher education. AIIMS every year conduct every year entrance exam for granting admission to the MBBS programme.

AIIMS is considered to be the most coveted Institute in which the number of aspirants dreams to take admission. AIIMS, New Delhi is responsible for holding the admission process each year. Every year, nearly 2 lakh aspirants register themselves for the AIIMS examination.

Through this exam, aspirants can get admission into nine AIIMS Institutions which are located in New Delhi, Bhopal, Rishikesh, Patna, Jodhpur, Guntur(Andhra Pradesh), Nagpur, Raipur and  Bhubaneswar.

JIPMER UG Exam: Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) every year regulates the medical entrance examination for providing admission in the MBBS programme.

JIMPER will be conducted by the Jawaharlal Institute Postgraduate Medical Education & Research. Through this exam, applicants can get admission to the MBBS course of the university and its affiliated colleges.

The admission will be granted in JIPMER Karaikal & Puducherry campuses. The entire number of seats available under JIPMER is 200, out of which 150 seats are in Puducherry and the rest 50 seats are in Karaikal.

JIPMER PG Exam: JIPMER PG  is a national level examination administrated by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. Scholars seeking admissions in MD/MS courses may appear for this exam. JIPMER PG exam is conducted every year in two sessions, i.e January and July.

AFMC MBBS Exam: Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) offers expertise in the field of medicine. This college grants admission to the MBBS course based on the NEET examination. The online filing of the application form will start in June.

AFMC grants admission to 130 MBBS seats including 10 seats for SC/ST aspirants (in which 105 seats are for boys and 25 seats are for girls).

PGIMER Exam: PGIMER organizes university level examinations for providing admissions into MS, DM, MD, MDS and other PG courses. Aspirants can fill out the examination form online mode.

These courses are offered by the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. This examination is organized twice a year, i.e. in January and July respectively. The admission to these courses will be done based on an all-India merit basis.

DNB CET Exam: Diplomate of National Board Centralized Entrance Test (DNB CET) is a national level exam organized by the National Board of Examination (NBE). This exam is organized twice a year (January and July sessions).

Through the DNB CET examination, candidates can get admissions in Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Master of Chirurgiae in Anatomy (MCh) and Diplomate National Board (DNB) is a 3-year Super Specialty course. The application form will release via online mode only.

University Level Medical Entrance Exams:

AMU MBBS Exam: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a central university located in Aligarh. AMU entrance exam is a university level examination that is conducted to offer admission in numerous courses offered by AMU.

AMU offers admission in various courses like B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Com (Hons.), B.Sc, MBA, B.Ed, BA. LLB, etc. Scholars seeking admission in MBBS/BDS courses offered by AMU have to qualify in the NEET examination. The admission form will release in June 2024.

IPU CET MBBS Exam: Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET 2024) is a university-level entrance exam administrated by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Admission to MBBS & BDS courses will be given through the NEET scorecard. Based on IPU CET scores, admission will be granted to GGSIPU and its affiliated institutions. The application form for admission to MBBS will release through online mode. The application form is to be filled out before the due date and have to submit via online mode.

DU MBBS Exam: Admission to the MBBS course in the constituent colleges of Delhi University is done through the merit of the qualifying exam or entrance exam. No individual pre-medical test is conducted for providing admission. Online registration will begin in May.

CENTAC Exam: Central Admission Committee is a central authority that has the responsibilities for conducting admission to UG programmes. CENTAC also offers numerous government colleges of Puducherry and other states in medical.

CENTAC application form for the admission date will announce in June. The admission procedure will be managed by the Centralized Admission Committee and the Government of Puducherry.

CMC Vellore Exam: CMC Vellore is a Christian minority, is an educational college that offers admissions to scholars in various UG, PG courses, diplomas & other courses in the medical field. CMC Vellore conducts its own university level entrance exam which is organized once a year.

The entrance exam is conducted for admission into B.Sc (Nursing), Diploma Nursing, Allied Health Sciences (AHS), AHS Diploma, MPH & M.Sc courses.

The application form will be released by the authority via online mode only. Admission to the MBBS course is processed based on NEET Score followed by an aptitude test set by CMC.

BVP CET Exam: Bharti Vidyapeeth Deemed University does not conduct any entrance exam for providing admission in MBBS & BDS courses. Applicants have to qualify for the NEET 2024 national level examination to get admission into these courses.

The admission and counselling process is done by Medical Common Counselling (MCC). Through this exam, applicants can get admission to several UG & PG courses in BVP and its affiliated institutions. The exam is conducted once a year.

SAAT MBBS Exam: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Admission Test (SAAT MBBS) is a university-level online entrance examination. Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University offers various UG, PG and other courses in the field of medical, engineering etc.

For admission in MBBS & BDS courses offered by various constituent institutions of the university, scholars have to clear the NEET Medical Entrance Exam. The applications form had been released via online mode.

MUOET Exam: Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU OET) is conducted for offering admission into various UG & PG courses. It is a key to get admission in engineering, pharmacy, Applied Sciences, and many other courses. MU every year conducts this examination which is one of the university-level Medical Entrance Exams.

Through this exam, aspirants get admission into various affiliated institutions of the university. Application form to be filled through online mode.

KIITEE Exam: KIITEE is an All India Entrance Examination conducted by the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar. The exam is a gateway to procure admission into various UG & PG courses. The exam is organised once a year.

Admission into MBBS, BDS, PG Medical & PG Dental will be done through NEET and NEET PG scorecard respectively. The application form can be accessed via online mode through the website.
