MBA Entrance Exams - List of Top MBA Entrance Exams in India

MBA Entrance Exams 2024: Master of Business Administration (MBA) is one of the most sought-after post-graduation courses in India as well as abroad which is designed to develop skills in management and business. The duration of the MBA course is 2 years, which is divided into 4 semesters. Several top-level B-Schools offers MBA course in India.

To get admission into an MBA degree or other management courses, aspirants have to appear in various entrance exam for MBA, that are organized at national, state and university levels all over the nation. Here, we are providing a detailed list of MBA Entrance Exam which consist of National and State Level entrance exams.

List of National Level MBA Entrance Exams:

CAT Exam: Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level MBA Entrance Exam. It is conducted by IIM on an alternate basis. This year, the CAT exam is conducted by the IIM, Calcutta. The entrance test is conducted in 2 sessions which are organized for admission in 19 Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) and different B-schools situated across the country.

Candidates who have a graduate degree with a minimum of 45% marks are eligible to appear in the CAT entrance exam. Appearing candidates of the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination can also apply for this test.

➜ MAT Exam: Management Aptitude Test is a national level entrance exam that is held for admissions to MBA/PGDM programs in reputed colleges. MAT exam is conducted four times a year usually in February, May, September and December.

The next session is planned for February 9 (offline) and February 15 (online). All India Management Association (AIMA) is the regulating body that organizes Management Aptitude Test (MAT) every year. Candidates who have a bachelor’s degree can apply online by paying the registration fee of Rs 1550.

The results of the MAT entrance exam are accepted by approximately 600 B-Schools in India.

➜ XAT Exam: Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) organizes a national level entrance exam every year which is known as Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). XAT is one of the popular entrance tests for admission to management programmes.

After appearing in the exam, shortlisted applicants will then proceed to further selection stages (GD, PI/ WAT), starting in March 2024. The total number of questions in the XAT exam is 99 and as per the analysis and the difficulty level was moderate to difficult.

After completion of these rounds, selected candidates will be eligible to take admission in their desired institutes.

➜ CMAT Exam: Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance exam for admission into management programmes. it was held every year by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as per the instructions of the Human Resource Development Ministry (MHRD), Government of India. Now it will be conducted by the NTA.

The time duration of the CMAT exam is three hours. It is a computer-based online exam that is conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate's ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. Graduate candidates can appear in the exams to take admission in a reputed college.

The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges.

➜ GMAT Exam: Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) is the main responsible body for organising Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). It is an international level examination.

After qualifying for this exam, candidates will get admission to the foreign country’s institutions and Universities. Some of the top institutions in India also accept GMAT score for admission. Candidates can apply for this exam only 5 times a year.

➜ SNAP Exam: Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) is a national level exam conducted by Symbiosis University. It is a pen paper-based exam. SNAP exam is held for admission in management programmes of constituent institutions under Symbiosis University.

➜ CUSAT Exam: Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is the top-notch university in Cochin. It was founded in the year 1971. Online registration for the MBA course will be commenced in February. Candidates who wish to get admission to the CUSAT MBA programme should be shortlisted through CMAT/MAT/CAT score, group discussion & personal interviews.

➜ ATMA Exam: Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) hold a national level admission test 4 times a year which is called ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions). This exam is organized in both pen-paper and computer-based mode.

➜ IIFT Exam: Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is one of the leading educational institutions all over the globe for imparting management education. It is a national level entrance exam.

The Institution conducts the IIFT entrance exam for admission in the management and business program at Kolkata and New Delhi campuses.

➜ AMU Exam: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a public university of Uttar Pradesh that is funded by the Government of India. The university conducts university level entrance exam for admission in various programmes of the university.

Candidate can register for the management course via online mode. The MBA Entrance Exam is conducted through offline mode.

➜ CUCET Exam: Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is a national level admission test that is conducted by the 10 Central Universities of India together. The exam is organized for admission into UG, PG and PhD courses in various fields of management, engineering, arts, etc.

➜ SAAT: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University always conducts an entrance test named Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Admission Test (SAAT). It is a national level entrance exam. SAAT exam acts as a gateway for those aspirants who are seeking admission in different management courses of the university and its constituent institutions.

➜ AIMA UGAT: All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts an entrance examination named AIMA UGAT (Under Graduate Aptitude Test).

List of University Level MBA Entrance Exam:

MU OET Exam: Manipal University is a leading university in Manipal, state of Karnataka. The university conducts its own entrance test that is known as Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU OET). This exam is held for admission in various courses in the field of engineering, management, medical, etc.

Those candidates who want to get admission to the MBA programme, are selected based on their past academic record, management test score and performance in the Ground Discussion and Personal Interview rounds.

BHU Exam: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) offers various UG, PG and Diploma/Certificate courses in multiple disciplines. Applicants have to appear in the entrance examination conducted by the university to get admission. This university offers an MBA course in the Agribusiness discipline. The application form has been commenced in January.

NMAT Exam: Narsee Monjee Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) or NMIMS Management Aptitude Test is a postgraduate university level entrance test. This admission test was conducted to pursue an MBA or other graduate management degree programmes in various reputed institutions that accept NMAT scores. NMAT exam will be directed by the Graduate Management Aptitude Council (GMAC).

PTU Exam: Punjab Technical University (PTU) is the most prominent university in India. The University does not conduct any MBA Entrance Exam. Admission into the MBA course will be granted based on the score of the CMAT examination. If the seats remain vacant after filling the seats through CMAT scores, then the admission is made based on the qualifying test.

IPU CET Exam: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University conducts a university level entrance exam, known as Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET). If candidates want to get admission to the MBA programme, they have to qualify for the admission test which is conducted offline mode.

Lucknow University Entrance Exam: Lucknow University conducts a university level entrance exam for providing admission in various UG and PG courses offered in management, science, law and other fields.

Pondicherry University: Pondicherry University is a central university that has been established by the Government of India in the year 1985. Candidates who aspire to pursue an MBA course at Pondicherry University, have to qualify for the Common Admission Test (CAT). Admission will grant based on the CAT scores. Only shortlisted candidates can get admission to the university.

PESSAT Exam: PES University, formerly PES Institute of Technology, is a private university in Bengaluru, India that conducts a university level entrance exam called as PES Scholastic Aptitude Test (PESSAT). PESSAT exam is held to get admission in various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the university. The entrance exam is conducted in online mode i.e computer-based mode.

IBSAT Exam: ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Hyderabad is the main regulating body that conducts the ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test (IBSAT). It is also known as an ICFAI Aptitude Test. IBSAT is a university level entrance that organizes for admission in various management programmes offered by ICFAI University and all India’s ICFAI Business School.

BVP CET: Bharti Vidyapeeth is deemed a University. It is a group of higher education institutions that organizes its own entrance exam for admission in various courses. The university organises the BVP CET B-MAT exam for those applicants seeking admission in MBA programmes offered by BVP Univesity and its affiliated institutions. The CET exam is conducted in offline mode (pen-paper based).

Allahabad University: The Allahabad University is also known as the University of Allahabad. It is one of the leading universities of Uttar Pradesh. The university holds its own entrance exam for admission in different management programmes. After qualifying admission test, students have to qualify in group discussion and personal interviews rounds.

KIITEE: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology is a reputed institution that offers various UG and PG courses. The college conducts its own entrance exam known as KIITEE (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Entrance Exam).

IMU CET: Indian Maritime University conducts its own Entrance Test named Indian Maritime University Common  Entrance Test (IMU CET) which is a common entrance test for UG and PG courses. Those candidates who want to get admission to several UG and PG programmes, have to appear in the IMU CET exam.

This university offers an MBA programme in Port and Shipping Management & International Transportation and Logistics Management.

NMIMS NPAT: NMIMS NPAT (NMIMS Programs After Twelfth) is a university-level MBA Entrance Exam that was designed for providing admission in various UG and integrated UG courses in various fields. Students can take admission in MBA Tech (B.Tech + MBA), MBA Pharma Tech (B.Pharm + MBA) and other courses through this exam.

LPU NEST: LPU NEST (Lovely Professional University National Entrance and Scholarship Test) is a university-level entrance examination which is conducted by LPU University. Those students who are looking for admissions in various courses like MBA offered by LPU, should appear for this examination. The application commenced in November.

VMOU Admission Test: Vardhman Mahaveer Open University conducts the university level exam for the student's admission. The exam name is VMOU 2024. This university organizes entrance exams for granting admissions into various UG, PG and other programmes in the field of management, science, computer application, etc.

MICAT: Mudra Institute of Communication (MICA) conducts its own entrance test known as MICA Admissions Test (MICAT). MICAT exam is conducted for admission into the PGDM-C course. This course is equivalent to the MBA course. Only those applicants apply for this admission test who qualifies at least any one of the national level entrance exam i.e CAT/MAT/GMAT.

List of State Level MBA Entrance Exam:

KMAT Karnataka 2024: KMAT is a state level examination which is conducted by Karnataka Private Postgraduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA). It is the main regulated body that organises this state level entrance exam for MBA Course. The application will begin in June.

Karnataka PGCET: Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) conducts a state-level examination that is valid in only Karnataka State. The exam is Karnataka PGCE which is referred to as Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test.

MAH CET: Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MAH CET) for MBA is organised by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra. It is the main conducting authority. MAH CET exam is organized only through pen and paper mode in multiple sessions. This entrance exam is a gateway for admission in the first year of MBA/ PGDBM/PGDM programmes.

AP ICET: Andhra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test (AP ICET) is a state-level entrance exam that is administered by Andhra University on behalf of the A.P State Council of Higher Education. Candidates who want to get admission into MBA courses offered by various universities and colleges of Andhra Pradesh state, have to appear for the AP ICET exam.

TS ICET: Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test (TS ICET) is a state-level entrance exam which is conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal. This exam is held on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad, TS ICET. Aspirants who want to pursue an Master of Business Administration course in a reputed college of Telangana state, have to qualify TS ICET entrance examination.

TANCET: Anna University conducts its own admission test on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The exam name is Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). It is a state-level entrance exam that is organised by the TANCET to get admission in MBA program. The entrance exam is held in offline mode.

UPSEE: Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh is the managing body of state-level entrance exam called UPTU MBA Entrance Exam. UPTU entrance exam also known as Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE). The exam is held via computer-based mode.

KMAT Kerala: MG University, Kerala conducts a state-level examination named KMAT (Kerala Management Admission Test). There are many governments and private institutions of Kerala consider the KMAT score for providing admission in MBA Program. The exam is held in two sessions i.e. April and November month.
