WHAT IS A TRANSFER CERTIFICATE?

A transfer certificate is a document prepared by the in-charge of the institution i.e. to a student on his request.  If the student decides to leave the institution, college, or school the transfer certificate is prepared by the concerned authorities. The transfer certificate includes personal details of the student listed in it and specifies the date of the student's birth as per the record of the said college, when and which program the student studied at the institution,  whether he/she passed or failed, and further, it certifies that the student paid all his dues to the institution and is not a defaulter. ROLE OF THE MIGRATION CERTIFICATE

The Certificate of Migration is a legal document required to locate from one location to another. It's usually granted by the university to students as permission to study elsewhere. It is the certificate issued when the students transfer from the schools of the university. In this, the said Board of Education or the University validates that the said student was a bonafide scholar of the said Board of Education or University and that there is no issue if the said scholar migrates by the Board of Education or University to another university or board for his further education.

In simple words, when the students transfer or switch between 2 universities for any DEGREE course, a migration certificate is required. Again it may be in the midst of ongoing sessions or after a session has been completed.

The aim of the Transfer Certificate is to ensure a student is only entering one regular course or college at a time. Universities offering a degree course usually require a migration and in some cases a TC, but in the case of autonomous institutes not regulated by any university, the certificates are not required. Even if the student goes to the same university for a master's degree after their bachelor's degree then no TC is required. Many organizations charge a nominal fee for providing the same and it's usually signed by the governing body's registrar.
