What is TET:

What is TET - So basically TET (Teacher Eligibility) Test is an exam organized at the national and state levels. The purpose of the TET exam is to determine the eligibility of the candidates for appointing them as a teacher in central or state schools. Every year, lakhs of candidates from the different parts of the nation appear for the TET exam with their purpose to get recruited as a teacher. There are following teaching posts for which a candidate can apply.

  • Primary Teachers (PRTs): For class I-V
  • Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs): For class VI-X
  • Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs): For class XI-XII

TET Exam Eligibility Criteria:

Given below are the basic eligibility criteria that candidates have to fulfill in order to apply for a TET exam.

  1. Candidates should pass a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 45 percent marks
  2. Candidates should have a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree or complete any other prescribed teacher training program or course.
  3. The age limit of a candidate should be in between 18 to 35.

TET Exam Eligibility Criteria for Paper I

  • Candidates who have cleared the Senior Secondary Exam or any other equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% marks. Also, those candidates who have cleared or pursuing or in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education can apply for the TET exam.
  • Candidates who have passed the Senior Secondary Exam or another equivalent exam with at least 50% of marks and the candidates who have cleared or pursuing or in the final year of 4 years in Bachelors of Elementary Education.
  • Candidates who have cleared graduation and passed or pursuing for the final year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

TET Exam Eligibility Criteria for Paper II

  • Candidates who have cleared graduation and passed or pursuing in the final year of a 2-year diploma in the Elementary Education.
  • Candidates who have cleared graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and are pursuing or have passed the 1st year of B.Ed.
  • Candidates who have passed the Senior Secondary Exam with at least 50% marks and those who have passed or pursuing for the final year of B.EI.Ed is eligible for TET exam.
  • Aspirants who have passed or pursuing the final year of 4 years integrated course BA, B.ED, B.Sc, B.Ed, or any other equivalent course can apply for this part.

Exam Details of TET Exam

There are normally 2 sections in the Exam Pattern of the TET Exam.

  • Paper 1 – is for the candidates who want to teach students from class I to V.
  • Paper2 – is for the candidates who want to teach students from class VI-VIII
  • The candidates who want to take up classes for I-VIII can appear for both the papers
  • There is no negative marking in the TET exam.
  • Both the TET papers will have two and half hour exam duration.
  • The Question Papers of TET will be both in Hindi and English Languages.

How to Apply for TET Exam?

The candidates who are interested to apply for TET Exam have to register themselves through the official website of the board. A specific time period is there to fill the form. Candidates must be aware of the time period. For the TET Exam application form, certain eligibility criteria are there. Candidates should follow all the criteria that are required to apply for a particular category. It is advised to the candidates to read the other instructions carefully in order to avoid any registration mistakes.

How to fill the TET Exam Application form?

  • Go to the official website of the Board.
  • Candidates can start the application by clicking on the register link and after that, fill the application form.
  • It is advised to Note down the system generated Application Number.
  • The candidate should give all the details correctly at the time of filling the application form.
  • After the successful submission of the details, an application number will be generated which will be used to complete the remaining steps. Note the application number for all future correspondence.
  • For further logins, candidates will be able to sign in directly with their respective application number and date of birth.
  • The application number is necessary for consequent operation(s). Therefore, candidates should keep a printout of the same.
  • Candidates have to upload their scanned images of photographs and signature.
  • The scanned image and Photographs should be in jpeg format only.
  • The size of the photo should be greater than 15kb but less than 20 kb.
  • The size of the signature must be greater than 10kb and less than 15 kb.

How to Download the TET Exam Admit card?

Candidates can download the admit card of the TET Exam from the official website of the board. If in case any mistake or discrepancy is there in the admit card regarding the details of the candidates or the exam center, they can immediately contact the exam cell for the correction before a prescribed date. Candidates are advised to read and understand the instructions written on the admit card carefully and duly follow them. No candidate is allowed to enter the examination hall unless they carry the admit card with 2 latest colored passport size photographs affixed on it. Generally, the TET Admit Card is available one week before the exams.

  1. At first, candidates have to go to the official website of the board.
  2. Candidates need to search for the Admit Card link that is available on the official website.
  3. In order to download the TET Admit Card, candidates have to enter the specific details in the required field.
  4. After entering the details, click on the submit button.
  5. The TET Exam Admit Card will display on the screen.
  6. Candidates can download the Admit Card and can take the print out of it for future use.

Selection Process for TET Exam:

Candidate’s selection process after the TET Exam will be on the basis of the overall performance in the following test -

  • Written exam
  • Interview
  • Medical Test

According to the above selection process, when the commencement of the written examination is successfully done based on the candidate’s performance in it they will be called for the further recruitment process i.e. Interview.  After completing the interview process, the final merit list for the TET exam will be declared by taking the written exam and interview into account.

Important Points:

  1. The written exam carries 85% weightage.
  2. The interview carries 15% weightage.
  3. No extra marks will be given for special qualifications like P.hD, M.Phil, M.ed.

For TET Exam, a merit list is released by the board on the official website of the board. The TET exam result is declared on the web portal in the form of a scorecard. Candidates can check their results by visiting the official website and then logging the login page. After logging, by selecting the result option, the result will be displayed on the screen. To do logging, candidates have to fill in the required details like application id, roll number, etc. & click on the submit button.

Before the result of the TET Exam, the answer sheet is also available on the site. The statement of the marks is provided by the board on the official website and candidates can go for the result page only by entering their registration number.
